#QTYflex

WHAT IS #QTYflex?

#QTYflex is a program for queer and trans youth ages 13-19 to explore different modalities of fitness and connect with their community.

In addition to trying out different approaches to fitness, we also discuss how fitness can be a tool in connecting with our bodies, shame-free approaches to food and movement, celebrating community over competition, and how to ask for what we need in non-queer-centred gym spaces and fitness facilities.

#QTYflex is suitable for all abilities and experiences with fitness. All you need is a body and willingness to try new things!

WHAT ACTIVITIES WILL WE BE DOING?

This varies from session to session, but in the past we have explored powerlifting, self-defence, strength training, dance, drag, yoga and MORE!

At QUEERFLEX we believe that all bodies are valid, and therefor all movement is valid! This program exists to give youth an opportunity to explore different types of movement in hopes they might find one that works for them.

WHERE DOES #QTYFLEX TAKE PLACE?

All of our sessions will start at The QUEERFLEX Gym (10616 - 105th Ave, Edmonton, AB). Some of our sessions will require us to go off property, but that will be communicated in advance and transportation will be taken care of.

HOW MUCH DOES QTYflex COST?

$0. Nothin'. Nada. Zip. Zero.

That is, it's free! #QTYflex is a partnership with the Pride Centre of Edmonton, and thanks to those who generously fund their youth programming, we are able to offer this service free of charge.

If you or someone you know would like to make a contribution in support of this program, please contact Kyle at queerflex@gmail.com - support from the community is the number one way we keep our services accessible and sustainable!
